Meet JulieJulie comes to us by way of the upper peninsula of Michigan. As she likes to explain it, if you take your left hand and put it in front of you with your thumb pointed to the sky, where the thumb drains into the hand is where Julie is from. Enough of a geography lesson, and more on Julie! She loves anything to do with art. She's been basket weaving for thirty years, she's sold paper craft supplies for a home demonstration company for about 5 years, she takes watercolor painting classes, and she's a member of a local artists’ association. Recently, she started volunteering at her local hospice as a respite visitor and helping low-income individuals winterize their homes. Julie and her husband have 2 cats & 2 dogs. And when she has the time, she loves to sit and watch the birds.
What's her story?
Julie was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, as of eight years ago. She's a One Drop Ambassador because, as she likes to say, what good does it do to hide your blood sugars? While Julie does admit she doesn't always log her food, she's definitely working on her skills. Right now, she's figuring the best ways to take pictures of her food so that she has more fun with food logging (in hopes that she'll do it more!).
Julie's Words to Live By
Julie has learned lots since being diagnosed eight years ago. She admits, sometimes she has to remind herself to be kind to herself, that perfection isn’t the answer to solving diabetes. But mostly, she says, “I am glad for every opportunity to live life again tomorrow. I can’t make the rest of the world change for me, but I can make the changes that are best for me!” Wise words to live by :) Julie, you are a total DIABADASS!
